High School Runners

Looking to run in college?

For those of you in junior high and high school, running in college may seem daunting.  Fortunately, there are a number of free resources available to help keep you ahead of the curve when it comes to applying for college and getting recruited to track and field and cross country teams!

Berecruited.com – Allows athletes to connect with NCAA coaches for both track and field and cross country. Athletes can register for free and create profiles that will be reviewed by coaches.  An advice page offers words of wisdom from college coaches and student athletes.

Dyestat.com – “The Internet home of High School track and field.” See what is happening with high school track and field across the country.
This website also provides a scholar-athlete section that includes helpful information for college-bound student athletes.

MyMajors.com – Offers a comprehensive four-year planning guide that helps students track what they should be doing to make the college application process (including the steps needed to participate in collegiate sports) as smooth as possible.

MakingItCount.com – “Academic, college, and career success information for today’s high school and college students.”

National Collegiate Scouting Association – Provides student athletes and their parents with information about the recruiting process and eligibility requirements.  The NCAA Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete is available for download in English and Spanish.

Students can also test their “Recruiting IQ” here.

Stack.com – “For the athlete, by the athlete.”  Information about training, workouts, nutrition, and recruiting is available.

If you want to run NCAA: Visit and download the NCAA 2010-2011 Guide for the College-Bound Student Athlete. There’s a great section at the back called “Questions to Ask as You Consider Colleges” that can help guide your questions for the coaches at colleges you are considering. Throughout the year NYRR will hold information sessions on NCAA eligibility. To learn about upcoming sessions, please e-mail YoungRunners@nyrr.org.
