Body & Mind
We all know that running is great aerobic exercise. It helps strengthen muscle and bone, it promotes heart health, and it’s a great way to improve your endurance. But physical fitness isn’t the only reason to run, and here is why:
Happiness! Running is a great way to relieve stress and emotional strain. With all that goes on in our busy lives, having an outlet to release that tension is important for our mental health. And studies have shown that people who exercise regularly are generally happier that people who don’t.
Determination! Running can also help you focus your mind because while you train, you learn to overcome obstacles and achieve goals. This focus and determination to meet the challenges you set for yourself can result in a great sense of accomplishment.
Friendships! Running is also a sport that you can participate in for your entire life, and along the way you can meet lots of new friends to run with, either casually or as a team.
Next time you get out there to meet your Mighty Miler goals, just remember, you’re not just keeping your body in shape, but your mind as well!
