Children’s Fitness Champions
New York Road Runners is committed to enhancing the lives of youth through the development and distribution of running-based fitness programs which teach children healthy habits for life. Our two signature programs, Mighty Milers and Young Runners, enable schools and community centers to engage large numbers of children in structured activities which provide the motivation and methodology to build character and to become and remain physically fit.
We recognize as our primary clients the teachers and recreation professionals who involve the children in our programs. Without the dedicated, successful efforts of those educators, the programs have no value. While we appreciate everyone who is on board with our efforts, we’re providing special recognition to those who give unsparingly of their time and talent to establish outstanding NYRR youth programs. Through their efforts they are changing the children’s lives, transforming school’s cultures and creating a better future for all. They are truly Children’s Fitness Champions (CFC) and it is our privilege to honor them for their achievements.
In the spring of 2009 we selected our inaugural class of Champions. These fourteen recipients are a model group of members who set the benchmark for years to come in what we plan to be a National Association of Champions.
