Alfonso Eugenio

Alfonso Eugenio started the Rabbits USA team seven years ago when he began a running club which soon served more than 50 children from his East Harlem neighborhood. An exemplary grassroots program, Alfonso engages parents as well as children, with many Rabbit parents also running and most actively supporting the team. By holding practice virtually every day of the year in or near Central Park, the Rabbits have become a face of the NYRR Youth Programs, as many people are introduced to our work by seeing his determined kids running in their branded blue shirts. The Rabbits, now comprised of children from three boroughs, attend almost all NYRR Youth Programs events, often winning or placing. Fittingly, this fall a long time member of the Rabbits – who learned to run via NYRR Youth Programs - will run the ING New York City Marathon.
